What the EU has done for us

Over half of UK trade is with EU countries
EU structural funding comes to 'deprived' areas of England
cleaner beaches

The EU mandatory standards highlight the quality of UK beaches which had been steadily improving. Also EU air quality standards have been associated with a steady improvement.

Water quality of rivers has similarly shown vast improvements with EU laws and monitoring.

The once-stinking river Tyne is now the UK's most productive salmon river.

The EU sets maximum levels for lead in petrol which has seen a reduction in lead levels in European children, lower levels improve learning.  Some people think the fall in violent crime is related to this change.
