"I just want someone to go on walks with me" she says, "we want different things."
I need to match your pace in order that we can talk. I have nothing to do but listen to you. Except if you get too absorbed in talking I can warn you of oncoming traffic.
You get to make the decisions along the way, whether to take this path or that one and when we meet obstructions like a bull or a bubbling river we need to confer about what to do.
I might even hold your hand for a moment if a log rolls under your foot when you're crossing a stream. Then there's the powerful effect of nature and the elements, the wind in the trees or the waves crashing on the shore. Even without a pub lunch it's a little intoxicating.
At some point we need to rest and to share that moment of comfortable release with someone.
So yes, let's 'just go for a walk' and it will be a time for just the two of us to be close and to share thoughts and ideas and to test how good we are at solving problems together.
